After a relatively steady start to the 2018/19 season it looks like the start of 2019 could be a busy time for all. A number of major projects are well underway and are looking to increase the number of personnel in order to fulfil the project’s obligations. There are also numerous projects to be awarded before the Christmas shut down, some of a major size that will require the successful contractor to do some significant and speedy recruitment. Much of the activity and the upcoming projects are based in and around the Auckland region; as the largest city in New Zealand Auckland is seeing a significant amount of infrastructure development across the board.
The projects are varied and include new highways, major earthworks, heavy drainage, water and wastewater, tunnelling, bridges & civil structures to name but a few, so the range of experience required is equally varied. With most contractors fully stretched at the moment any new work will need to see them add to their teams. The bulk of the need will be in engineering staff, site engineers, project engineers and section engineers but there will also be a need for project managers and site agents as well. The majority of these roles will be with major tier one civil contractors who have extensive experience of recruiting engineers from overseas. These companies don’t just look for people to fill a job, but are looking for those candidates who want to develop and further their career.
With Christmas looming clients are looking to start new people in the first quarter of 2019 and are looking to undertake interviews immediately so that successful candidates can get the immigration process underway and prepare for the move. Current positions immediately available include,
- 2 x site engineer – 2+ years general civil and infrastructure experience. Heavy civil experience would be a bonus
- 2 x Project engineer – 4+ years general civil and infrastructure experience. Heavy civil experience would be a bonus
- Project engineer – 4+ years general civil and infrastructure experience. Drainage and utilities would be a bonus not essential
- 2 x Project engineer – 4+ years heavy civil experience around foundations, piling, concrete and marine
- 2 x site engineer – 2+ years heavy civil experience around foundations, piling, concrete and marine
All of these positions come with an excellent salary, a vehicle and relocation assistance where required. They are all focused on January or February starts and associated with projects ranging in value from £30 million to £400 million. If you feel that your experience fits any of these roles I’d love to hear from you so that we can start a conversation about your interest in New Zealand.
