As part of its recovery from the covid crisis New Zealand is investing heavily in infrastructure throughout the country in areas such as road, rail and water. Due to the nature of New Zealand’s landscape many of these projects come with challenges that require a good dose of ingenuity and determination to overcome. My client is one of the most respected civil contractors in the heavy civil space and they have a long track record of successfully delivering major projects throughout the country. Primarily focussing on pipelines, bridges, civil structures and marine works they have built a great team of experts who know how to deliver. With a heavy workload ahead they need to build that team even further.
Their immediate requirement is for a number of foremen for projects starting in the New Year. A background in heavy civils is a given but for these roles, specific expertise in bridge building is essential. As a civil foreman you will have been involved with a good number of bridge construction projects and have a good understanding of what makes these projects unique. Particular experience in precast, balanced cantilever and cast-in-situ bridge projects will be ideal but broader experience from the bridge industry will be welcomed.
As foreman you will be working closely with engineers and subcontractors to make sure that progress on the ground is in line with the programme of works. You will lead by example and so your understanding of bridge construction will be invaluable in guiding and assisting your team. You’ll be comfortable running a team of 10 or above and be responsible for allocating duties through daily briefings and making sure health and safety is adhered to throughout. Ideal requirements include,
- 5 years plus working as a foreman with a civil contractor
- Extensive bridge building experience
- Excellent team management and H&S focus
- Desire to work for a great NZ contractor on rewarding projects
In respect to your experience you will offered and excellent salary as part of a broader package that will include relocation and visa assistance as required. Although some restrictions remain at the NZ border there are exemptions will assist with these roles. If this role is of interest then contact Phil via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me on +6421 49 367.
