National Technical Manager – Concrete

New Zealand’s construction and infrastructure industries continue to go from strength to strength and in order to keep up with the demand suppliers are looking to increase their capability and the quality of their delivery to those sectors. Concrete and precast technology and production are a key component in the building and infrastructure sectors and our client is established as one of the premium providers of precast structures and concrete pipe in the market. They supply to clients from a variety of manufacturing sites throughout New Zealand all directed from the head office in Auckland. They are currently on the lookout for a National Technical Manager to join the senior management team in that Auckland office.

The role of the National Technical Manager is to primarily drive the company’s technological development of pipeline systems whilst at the same time maintaining their position as an industry leader within New Zealand. Focus will be split between in-house innovation and development with the engineering team and supporting the sales and business development team with technical expertise. As a member of the senior management team this role will heavily influence the direction of the business and its success for the foreseeable future.

The successful candidate will already have a proven technical and managerial track record in the concrete industry at a senior level. Your technical background will allow you to offer expertise and experience to your team which in turn will encourage new development and innovation within the sector. Your managerial experience will give you an understanding of commercial best practice and man management which will result in successful product and improved market share. Key attributes for the successful candidate will include;

  • a tertiary qualification in structural engineering or similar relating to cement or aggregates
  • a chartered engineering qualification is desirable
  • the ability to spot an opportunity and bring your team with you
  • excellent communication and IT skills
  • the drive to succeed and the willingness to have fun doing it

Reporting to the General Manager this is a key position within the organisation and the aim is to find the right person, with the right set of skills, wherever they may be.
