This company boasts a team of specialist qualified refractory bricklayer’s working on a variety of projects ranging from aluminium smelters to crematoriums. Due to an increase in workload there is now an opportunity to take on a new trainee/apprentice. Already in the past few months the company is taken on two new trainees and they are currently starting their apprenticeship. This is an opportunity for you to join the team, gain your qualifications and build yourself a career.
We are looking a candidate with experience in the construction, concrete or similar industry who has some technical understanding of drawings and an ability to read them. This is a tough industry and is hard work but the rewards are there and very soon you could be established as a qualified refractory bricklayer in a growing market. If successful you will have the opportunity to work around New Zealand and also overseas in Australia and Fiji from time to time. The work is very project orientated and so in quieter times you will do a standard 40 hour week but when based on projects you can expect to do 50 hours or above. Of course overtime is offered and so your efforts are rewarded financially!
Ideal applicants will have the experience, personality traits and attitudes below;
- You need to be a hard worker and willing to get stuck in
- You will have some trade/industry background including the ability to read and understand technical drawings
- You will need to be good at following instructions and willing to learn
- You will need to be able to deal with a dirty and hard environment
- Christmas is the busiest time of year so expect to be working

This is a growing company and so it is expected that once your apprenticeship is complete you will stay with the team in a permanent capacity.
