After spending the past 18 months locked away from the rest of the world New Zealand is opening its borders to the world on May 1st 2022. This can’t come soon enough for contractors within the civil and infrastructure sector as they are in desperate need of high skilled and experienced professionals to join them.
Across the board the workload is increasing with many suggesting the sector is already working at capacity. With years of work ahead many contractors are looking to add to their teams with candidates from overseas who want to make New Zealand home for the short or long term. Water, Highways, Power, Land Development and Structures are all areas that boast a massive pipeline of work around the country and they need additional expertise in these sectors to make that work.
The range of the experience required is also massive and I’ve listed a number of the most in demand roles below. Of course this is only a short list and there is demand beyond just those titles listed.
- Site Engineer
- Project Engineer
- Section Engineer
- Sub/Site Agent
- Project Manager
- Contract Manager
- Senior Project Manager
- Quantity Surveyor
Already I have a number of clients reviewing and talking with candidates so they can move quickly when May comes around. If you want to be in a position to make the move in 2022 then it’s important that we start the process sooner than later.
New Zealand isn’t just a working holiday so whether you’re thinking about a short or long term move you will still have the opportunity to advance your career in your chosen field. All positions offer good salary packages with top tier contractors at the forefront of infrastructure development in New Zealand. To get things moving, or just to make some enquiries, send me a copy of your CV to Phil via email@example.com and we’ll arrange a time to talk about your plans and what working in NZ can mean for you.
