My client is the premier ground engineering contractor in New Zealand and they are seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial Manager to join their team in Auckland. As a key player in our organization, you’ll oversee the crucial commercial aspects on a range of projects and contribute to the overall success of the company.
As Commercial Manager you will be running a team of quantity surveyors and estimators on a number of heavy civil projects throughout the Auckland Region. As commercial manager role you will be expected to lead your team and oversee the following,
- Negotiations and management of pre-contract agreements
- Prepare and oversee budgets to optimize financial performance
- Negotiate subcontractor packages and contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality
- Efficiently manage claims and resolve disputes to maintain project timelines
- Lead and mentor a high-performing commercial team, fostering growth and collaboration
- Provide comprehensive financial reporting to stakeholders for informed decision-making
- Implement effective change management strategies to adapt to project requirements
Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction sector, with at least 2 years in a commercial management role
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and negotiate with stakeholders
- Proficiency in IT tools and software to streamline processes and reporting
- A driven, clear thinker with high aspirations for themselves and the company
