An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Engineer / Site Manager to join a major commercial building project on the stunning island of St Maarten. This is a 12 to 18-month contract offering the chance to work on a high-profile international project while enjoying an enviable Caribbean lifestyle. Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day coordination and successful delivery of commercial building works, ensuring the project is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
You’ll be involved in:
- Planning and coordinating daily construction activities
- Managing site teams, subcontractors and labour resources
- Reviewing drawings and specifications to ensure accurate delivery
- Programming works and monitoring project progress
- Material procurement, logistics and site coordination
- Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) management
- Quality assurance and compliance
- Client, consultant and stakeholder liaison
- Site administration, reporting and documentation
- Supporting the commercial management of the project, including cost control, variations and contractual requirements
We’re looking for someone who enjoys being on site, leading teams and driving projects forward. You’ll ideally have,
- A Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related degree (or equivalent experience)
- A minimum of 5 years proven experience delivering commercial building projects
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Experience managing site logistics, materials and HSE requirements
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Good commercial awareness, including project costs, contracts and reporting
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach to problem solving
